The agenda for the event is as follows

• The role of Prevent champions

• Building a Stronger Britain Together Project Part 2

• Q&A

We are very fortunate to have secured the contribution of fantastic range of speakers to address these issues, including

Superintendent Matthew Davison, Regional Co-ordinator for Prevent, Protect and Prepare, Counter Terrorism Policing North East

Superintendent Matt Davison, joined West Yorkshire Police in 1997 before creating West Yorkshire’s first Neighbourhood Policing Team in 2003. His work in safeguarding, integrated offender management, early intervention and leading the ‘Safer Leeds Partnership’ has been recognised nationally. Following his move to Counter-Terrorism Policing in 2018 he is now the Regional Coordinator for Prevent, Protect and Prepare for the North East and the national lead for the ‘Identify’ strand of Prevent.

Graham Rodger ex professional footballer and current CEO of Grimsby Town Sport and Education Trust (GTSET), a not for profit autonomous organisation and registered Charity.

Graham will be talking about the Building Stronger Britain Together programme at GTSET.

GTSET and partners The Equality practice were fortunate to apply and get two rounds of funding from the Home office BSBT program. We have used the 'vehicle' of Grimsby Town Football Club to drive out into our community positive promoting messages on inclusion.

DC Lee Ross, Counter Terrorism Case Officer, CTPNE, Humberside.

DC Ross has worked in Counter Terrorism Policing for over 12 years in a variety of roles including CT Border Policing, Intelligence and is now a Counter Terrorism Case Officer and will be providing an overview of the role of Prevent Champions.

Prevent Champions have a key role in preventing people being drawn into extremism across the partnership. Factors which make an individual vulnerable to radicalisation can apply to any age, social class, religion, ethnic or educational background, because of this the network of champions is drawn from a host of partner agencies including health, education, policing, probation, local authorities and other frontline organisations.

The conference will also include a brief overview of the far-right spectrum in the UK today and how we got to where we are. Also, how an IP approaches each mentoring case, and a case study of a previous mentee.

This should be a genuinely engaging and informative event. If you have any questions please contact Victoria.henley@nelincs.gov.uk
